A little bit about us
Hello, we’re Billy and Dawna and we’re very pleased to welcome you to Holmbyre Smithy. Built in the 1830’s it was the home of a local blacksmith for the area that is called Giffordland. His main job was to make horseshoes for the local horses.
Holmbyre Smithy sits on our land where we have our ginger cat called Russell who you’ll likely see basking in the midday sun.
We also have two pigs called Barry and Garry and our pygmy goats Hamish and Wee Gus who can often be seen playing in the field close to the Smithy. They love leftover food scraps! Don’t worry if our pigs or goats aren’t your thing, they’re kept in a field completely separate from where you’ll stay and are not noisy.
The other buildings on our land is Holmbyre Cattery where we look after lots of cats who come to stay with us whilst their owners are away on holiday. In addition we also have two glamping pods located on our land adjacent to the Smithy.
